Explore Denmark 2006

‘Explore Denmark: 05’ involved a group of 17 Explorer and Network Scouts aged 16 – 25, and 3 Scout Leaders.

We undertook an ‘Explorer Belt’ Expedition throughout Denmark from 27th March – 10th April 2005.

The first day was used as a briefing and orientation exercise, and the following ten days saw the groups hiking around Denmark, arriving back safely in Copenhagen. A light programme was rolled out over the remaining three days, where the team met local Scouts, and saw some of the sights that Copenhagen has to offer.

The aim of the ‘Explorer Belt’ is to offer our members, an insight into, and a wider understanding of, another country - its people, its culture, its problems and its landscapes - and to provide opportunities for initiative, resource, and endurance. The ‘Explorer Belt’ is neither a competition nor a test - it's a personal challenge!

The Explorer Belt Expedition to Denmark enabled participants to plan and implement a number of stimulating personal challenges, which demand initiative, curiosity and resource, bringing them into close contact with the local people and The Danish Guide and Scout Association - Det Danske Spejderkorps.

The hike itself lasted 10 days, and covers at least 160km. Participants formed into small teams with each team operating as an independent unit in terms of route and project.
