South Morningside Explorer Scout Unit |
Explore Denmark 2006
‘Explore Denmark: 05’ involved a group of 17 Explorer and Network Scouts aged 16 – 25, and 3 Scout Leaders. The aim of the ‘Explorer Belt’ is to offer our members, an insight into, and a wider understanding of, another country - its people, its culture, its problems and its landscapes - and to provide opportunities for initiative, resource, and endurance. The ‘Explorer Belt’ is neither a competition nor a test - it's a personal challenge! The Explorer Belt Expedition to Denmark enabled participants to plan and implement a number of stimulating personal challenges, which demand initiative, curiosity and resource, bringing them into close contact with the local people and The Danish Guide and Scout Association - Det Danske Spejderkorps. The hike itself lasted 10 days, and covers at least 160km. Participants formed into small teams with each team operating as an independent unit in terms of route and project.
